About

I was 11-years old when I first knew what it felt like to become a victim of theft.

I parked my bicycle outside the local village shop and went inside to buy some sweets and a fizzy drink. When I left the shop, I had that gut-wrenching feeling of realising my bicycle wasn’t where I left it. I stood in disbelief as I realised my pride and joy had been stolen.

Losing the bike was one thing but what stands out – even today – is how stupid I felt that I’d let someone take my bike from me without making them work for it.

I never saw that bike again. From then on, I realised how important it is to secure your stuff.

I’ve never left a bike unlocked since, but, over the past 20 years, I have still been a victim of multiple thefts. I’ve also defeated a couple of attempts by using quality products and fitting them properly. Living in London means I’m more likely to have my stuff pinched compared to living in the sticks.

My mission is to write guides that help you keep your stuff secure. Security isn’t just about locks and physical barriers. It’s as much about where, when and how you secure your stuff as what you use to secure it. I break down what you need to know, what you ought to spend and share all the tips I’ve learned over the years.

Ben

Any time anything of mine has been stolen or an attempt at theft has been made, I’ve learned new lessons. I share those lessons here.

I’ve made it my mission to secure my stuff the best way I can. This doesn’t always involve spending the most amount of money. Security isn’t just about locks and physical barriers. It’s as much about where, when and how you secure your stuff as what you use to secure it with.

That said, decent security rarely comes cheap, but you don’t have to spend a fortune.

I like to think that I’ve prevented many an opportunist or determined thief by using good security and practising common sense.

How does this site earn revenue?

This website is a collection of guides and product recommendations to help you keep your stuff secure. I hope my experiences can help you reduce the chances of becoming a victim of theft.

Hopefully you have noticed a lack of the all-too-common obnoxious advertisements or paid “advertorial” guest posts found on many other review websites.

We don’t accept guest posts or content written by anyone else.

When you click a link and buy a product we recommend, we might make a referral commission. This is how we can bring you such great well researched content for free and without spammy ads.

It doesn’t cost you anything and your prices are always the same. Merchants give referral (or “affiliate”) commissions all the time, you usually just don’t know about it. Most importantly, it will never affect what we recommend because pretty much every lock out there is being sold by a merchant with an affiliate program, whether that be eBay, Amazon or the big players in each of these markets.

We are a participant in the Amazon Services LLC Associates Program, an affiliate advertising program designed to provide a means for us to earn fees by linking to Amazon.com and affiliated sites.
